Malaysian APM Automotive will be building an US$9-million interior parts plant in Myanmar, to support the complete knock-down (CKD) operations of Nissan Motor from 2015.

Tan Chong Motor, the Malaysian partner of Nissan Motor, is spearheading the entry into Myanmar, which is considered one of the last remaining “frontier” markets in Asia with substantial growth potential.

With approval from Myanmar Investment Commission, construction will start within a year and will be located in the Bago region of Myanmar, north of Yangon. The plant will be managed by APM Auto Components Myanmar, and the company has leased land from the government of Bago for five years, extensible to 10.
