Japanese Suzuki is determined to establish Thai Suzuki Motor's Pathum Thani production facility as an export hub this year, aiming to produce 10,000 midsized motorcycles.

Suzuki will produce motorcycles of 250 to 750 c.c. for the first time, to increase its annual production capacity at its plant in the Thanyaburi district by 50,000 to 400,000 units. The plant's output this year is estimated to reach 290,000 units, with 120,000 for export, 100,000 for domestic sale, and 70,000 in the form of marine engines exported mainly to Japan.

Chairman and Chief Executive Satoshi Uchida said that there is increasing demand for motorcycles above 250 c.c. in Thailand, with sales expected to rise to 20,000 from 12,580 in 2012. Seven outlets for midsized and big motorcycles are expected to open. Thai Suzuki aims to increase its share from 3% to 5% of Thailand's motorcycle market, which is estimated to reach two million units this year.
