The five devices are the US$39.99 Mi LED Desk Lamp, US$19.99 Yeelight Light Bulb, US$44.99 Mi Yeelight Bedside Lamp, US$14.99 Mi Smart Plug and US$2,000 Mi Laser Projector 150.
All five devices support Google Assistant and can be controlled by the Xiaomi Mi Home app. The laser projector even has Google Assistant built-in, turning it into a smart home hub in the living room.
Known for its affordable smartphones, Xiaomi has worked on the smart home market for a couple of years, mostly in China and India. It has created an ecosystem through its Mi Home app and added Alexa and Google Assistant support for the Western market only.
This year, the company expanded its footprint into the U.S. by selling products through Walmart and Amazon. It has Alexa-enabled devices on Amazon and Google Assistant-supported devices in Walmart.
It presents itself as an affordable smart home option in the U.S. market, with products like the US$15 smart plug and US$40 security camera.
Xiaomi has launched more smart home devices in China and India than in the Western market. For instance, it debuted its US$37 Mi Home Security Camera 360, Android smart TVs and Mi Air Purifier 25 in India this September. It remains unknown whether these products will enter the Western market. The Chinese company has recently expanded into the UK with its flagship smartphone Mi 8 Pro.
This latest launch in the U.S. is an exclusive deal with Walmart, arriving just in time for the holiday shopping season.
