The SMAhome Award Ceremony took place on April 21st at 11 a.m. at SMAhome International Exhibition and Conference in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Hall, Taiwan. 12 finalists competed for five award categories – Top of Excellence, Top of Innovation, Top of ID Design, Top of Integration, and Top of Popularity.
Award entries were peer-reviewed and anonymously judged by an influential jury panel of experienced system integrators, prominent service providers and established professionals.
Charlie Wong, general manager of the organizer, Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Taiwan Branch, made an opening speech at the award ceremony.
“The primary aim of SMAhome Award & Competition is to create a global awareness and understanding for good-design smart home products of the original manufacturers. The ultimate aim of SMAhome Awards is to push designers, companies and brands worldwide to develop superior smart home products that facilitate the smart home market and bring true convenience of the smart living style,” said Wong.
Alex Hsieh, chief technology officer of Kbro, served as one of the judges for the award. “As a service provider, we are glad to see the great improvements these finalists have made to solve the users’ doubts about connected home, such as the double data encryption to lower the risk of transmission threats or the easy installation procedure,” said Hsieh. “Not just the winners, but all these finalists have distinguished features and specialties. I can see many potential cooperation opportunities with them.”

As the winner of Top of Excellence Award, Jeffrey Wu, president of StarVedia Technology Inc., said that the company wants to make products that will bring real benefits to the users. “Our product integrates smart home with IP camera surveillance. We think truly smart products will put a smile on our users’ faces for the benefits they bring to the users, and this is our goal which we have been working towards. As a Taiwanese company, we would like to promote Taiwan through the great products we offer.”
Hanna Zamo_na, Fibar Group's international sales manager for Europe and Asia, said that the Top of Innovation Award is the company's first award in Asia. “Winning the award is a real honor for us.
