Smart doorbells has become a popular products in the smart home markets. However, most models are either powered by rechargeable batteries or regular AA batteries, which brings users some hassles to regular change them.

A new smart video doorbell – the Soliom Doorbell – aims to solve this problem. It comes with a solar panel so that the doorbell can collect energy from the sun and use this power to charge its 5,000 mAh lithium battery.

It also highlights its attach-to-install process, bringing users the biggest convenience to have a smart doorbell.

In terms of product spec, the Soliom Doorbell features IP65 weatherproof rating, 1080HD video recording, night vision, two-way audio, motion sensors and a 165-degree wide-angle lens.

When its motion sensors detect some activities, homeowners will receive live alerts and to further check up the live footage of who’s at the door from the mobile app or the web version. If necessary in the case of intrusion, they can take a screenshot from the app as the proof to law enforcement officials.

Two-way audio allows homeowners to talk with friends or delivery people when they’re not home.

Soliom, the team behind the solar-powered doorbell, claims that it won’t charge any monthly fees and provide free cloud storage for users.

The Soliom Doorbell doesn’t provide any further details about the product and cloud storage service. The company only opens sign-up on its website to receive product availability updates. It seems to launch the product via a crowdfunding campaign soon.
