Google-owned Nest has released some updates in its mobile app, including Android TV support and an ‘instaclips’ video creating tool.

First, if the Nest Cam owners also have an Android TV, they can now use the updated app to view the camera feed on the big screen. For example, while watching a football game on the Android TV, the user can at the same time check the surveillance system from the screen. Besides real-time images, the user can also play the previously recorded video on the Android TV. And according to Nest, the support for Apple TV will be released in the near future.

Before, Nest has introduced a subscription service called Nest Aware. The subscriber can set up Activity Zones around the house to get an advanced activity detection and be able to use a cloud storage space for their video feeds.

Now, the Nest Aware subscribers get a new feature called instaclips, which allows users to record a short videos with their outdoor or indoor cameras. To record the short clips, users need to open the video feeds from the Nest cameras in the Nest app, then click a video icon on the right side to start recording.

The Nest app will automatically register the duration of activity and decide the length of the video, so that the users don’t need to set up any beginning or ending time for the recording. Users can also personalize the video length, by holding the video icon and letting go as stopping recording.

Nest camera users can use the new feature on recording security threats, or also just as a home camera to record events such as birthday parties. The recorded videos will be saved locally or be shared with contacts via iMessage, email, WhatsApp or social media.
Other updates for the Nest app include viewing the Nest camera video feed in the full screen without rotating the phone and editing all device notifications settings from the Home settings menu.

The features work on both outdoor and indoor cameras made by Nest. The new version of Nest app has been released both on iOS and Android.
