ASUS teams up with Orbweb to launch ZenAnywhere personal cloud
Sleeping laptops no longer need to be tethered to an Ethernet cable. Through a Wi-Fi connection, users will be able to wake up their PC located anywhere.
ASUS notebooks, desktops and All-in-One PCs are now bundled with the ZenAnywhere personal cloud application, allowing users to connect smartphones to PC’s for remote file access, webcam monitoring, while treating the PC as a storage hub.

Users can access Word, Excel, Powerpoint, photos, music, videos files on the PC remotely. They can also retrieve and upload files to work efficiently. While using this feature, users expand their mobile device storage space, and turn their ASUS PC into a personal storage hub.

Powered by the software developed by Orbweb, ZenAnywhere includes the “Remote Wake” feature, allowing users to wake up a computer or put it to sleep or shutdown. When turning on the computer, users can enjoy all the features on their computers.

Another interesting feature is webcam access and live viewing. Users will be able to remotely monitor their work/home environment through their mobile device. Live video feeds will be streamed to the palm of their hand. Notifications will be sent when motion is detected.

ZenAnywhere is not merely an app, but a “smart agent that transforms ASUS PC into an intelligent computer,” said S.Y. Shian, ASUS’s Chief Operating Officer & Corporate Vice President. “ZenAnywhere complements the PC and increases the level of flexibility users have towards an ASUS PC,” Shian said.

Orbweb’s CEO James Wei said “We are glad to play a role in creating more value out of your PC.” There is no need to upload files onto a third party cloud anymore. ZenAnywhere allows users to view files, upload pictures, and monitor webcam remotely, while treating the PC as a storage hub. “Your mobile storage will expand by a hundred times by using this simple, intuitive app,” Wei said.

All these features are powered by Orbweb’s M2M technology, which delivers guaranteed connections and fast transfer rates.

After the 6-month Professional free trial, users can subscribe to the Professional version to continue to use the Remote Wake service without advertisements.

How does Remote Wake work? When the PC is put into “sleep” mode, it will continue to send a signal to the backend servers. This informs the backend server that the PC is “sleeping” and is ready to wake up at any time. When users want to wake up the PC, their mobile device will send a “wake up” signal to the backend server, which will send a message to wake up the PC.
