D-Link now offers Google Assistant-compatible smart home products

Network equipment company D-Link has added Google Assistant compatibility to its products under the mydlink smart home system, extending the company’s voice command capacity beyond Siri and Alexa, the Taiwan-based company announced recently.

mydlink is D-Link’s end-to-end smart home ecosystem consisting of a range of home automation devices, as well as the cloud-based platform and the mobile app. Consumers are able to connect to, monitor and control smart devices at home.

The compatibility will provide consumers with the ability to control their smart home products with voice commands. By saying “Ok Google” to the Google Assistant on Google Home or Android phone, users will receive answers, manage tasks, and control mydlink devices around their home.

D-Link said is proud to become Google’s partner and be part of the increasingly expanding home automation industry.  “We hope to continue providing our customers with new smart home experiences that encompass more possibilities than ever before,” said Anny Wei, CEO and President of D-Link Corp.

The mydlink service is a secure website which enables users to access, control and monitor all of their mydlink-enabled devices, such as routers, cameras and storage devices from anywhere at any time with an Internet connection.

With mydlink, users don’t need a computer to access their home devices. Just download the mydlink app to iPhone, iPad or Android devices, they will have access control.

D-Link already provides Apple HomeKit and Amazon Alexa compatibility. Back in February, the company introduced the first HomeKit enabled security camera the Omna 180 Cam HD, which allows users to be “always home” and includes advanced security features with end-to-end encryption and authentication between the camera and an iPhone or iPad.

Amazon Echo’s voice-powered personal assistant, Alexa, enables users to control anything plugged into a Wi-Fi smart plug by simply saying, “Alexa, ask mydlink to turn on the hallway light.”
