SMAhome Award 2016 finalist: StarVedia’s IC722w/z IP Camera combines controller with gateway functions

SMAhome Award 2016 finalist: StarVedia’s IC722w/z IP Camera combines controller with gateway functions
Much like StarVedia's wide fleet of IP cameras, the IC722w/z sports a stunning design that bypasses any excessive contours, complementing simple ergonomics but all the while packs similar hardware and software as with any other heavyweight contenders.
Much like StarVedia's wide fleet of IP cameras, the IC722w/z sports a stunning design that bypasses any excessive contours, complementing simple ergonomics but all the while packs similar hardware and software as with any other heavyweight contenders.

“The smaller camera form factor design allows a less obtrusive appearance where there are aesthetic concerns when blending it with existing home décor,” StarVedia Sales Account Manager Scott Chang said.

Thanks to a simple standalone design, the 2-in-1 controller/gateway device enables a wide-angle aspect ratio video stream to optimize coverage of vertically-oriented areas such as hallways, stairwells or retail store aisles.

Unveiled earlier this year, the Day & Night IC722w/z Camera requires no wirings, is easy to install, and boasts full plug-and-play, Chang added.

The IP camera also sports a Sigma Design 500 series module by Z-Wave, which enables it to become compatible with more than 2,000 Z-Wave-powered devices.

Commenting on why the company opted to integrate Z-Wave over other protocols as their core transmission technology, he said the latter standard was chosen because of its low energy consumption, and compatibility with a broader range of devices.

Meanwhile, the IC722w/z can provide real-time video stream of user's home, and survey a room in 130-degrees at 2 megapixel resolution (30fps at 1920 x 1080) thanks to its wide-viewing angle capability. The device has a host of security and home automation features, including time-lapse recording and multi-storage options that consist of microSD card, NAS (up to 10TB), and Dropbox cloud storage.

“The system is totally designed for set up-and-go. Once installed and activated, users can simply log into their Dropbox account to store and download video data from the cloud,” Chang explained, adding that in terms of security, data privacy on the camera should be of no concern because StarVedia's proprietary solution minimizes the risks of Internet hacks.

StarVedia, finalist to this year's SMAhome Award, will be presenting their connected home solutions at the SMAhome Award Center (#8307) during the SMAhome International Exhibition and Conference in Taipei.
