eZLO: Creating a user-friendly connected home space for everyone

eZLO: Creating a user-friendly connected home space for everyone
If there was a simple, easy-to-use smart home gateway capable of interoperating different connected devices but minus the fancy price tag, the name “eZLO” might ring a bell.
If there was a simple, easy-to-use smart home gateway capable of interoperating different connected devices but minus the fancy price tag, the name “eZLO” might ring a bell.

As the peppy moniker suggests, eZLO actually stands for “Easy” and “Low”, eZLO Business Development Manager Eunice Punzalan explained, adding that the company is envisioned to provide all home owners with affordable, do-it-yourself products, with easy integration to Z-Wave devices.

“We opted to highlight our gateway for Z-Wave because it is currently a widely-used standard,” she said, however noting that it also aims to integrate to more wireless protocols in the near future.

The eZLO hub control center is equipped with a Z-Wave wireless system, which allows connecting, monitoring and control of all compatible devices within the connected home. The user simply controls them remotely on a mobile device using its free and downloadable eZLO app.

“Creating a technology-connected home is not just a privilege for geeks anymore!” Punzalan said.

Flexible cloud
“The eZLO platform is built with modularity and flexibility in mind. We use a full stack solution to create our architecture and firmware with pure C++ programming language, thus giving us powerful integration with other technologies,” eZLO CTO Bilgehan Evren said during the third day of SMAhome2016 forums in Taipei.

According to Evren, the company created a very unique but user-friendly software that supports any home automation and IoT technology, products or protocols.

“Localization is the name of the game. Our localization admin panel allows for changing the eZLO portal and application language to any other languages,” he said, citing that it currently supports 20 languages.

“eZLO is not just a platform made exclusively for us, we made it for everybody!”

eZLO means business
According to Punzalan, eZLO’s business model expands not only to end consumers but to OEMs and distributorship as well. “Besides the North American market, we also want to make our presence known in the Asia-Pacific region through OEMs and distributors, giving the region a chance to experience smart home automation” she explained.

“The U.S. market is expansive and growing, but the supply exceeds demands, and so the market is very competitive. eZLO aims to be in that supply not for demand, but for difference in usability and cost”

Meanwhile, the company is currently looking to form partnerships with Asia’s reputable retailers, startup entrepreneurs and small to big scale distributors, whether online or through storefronts.

“We believe having a presence online is essential as a startup.”

Commenting on its future initiatives, Punzalan said eZLO is also looking to create their own brand of sensors and smart devices as in the coming future. “This year, we expect to release our own brand of IP camera,” she told SMAhome.
