Avigilon, a Motorola Solutions company, announced that it has received SAFETY Act Designations from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for its video surveillance systems and Access Control Manager (ACM) software.

Enacted in 2002, the Support Anti-terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies (SAFETY) Act, encourages the creation and use of anti-terrorism technologies and practices. It is designed to mitigate liability risks for sellers or manufacturers of anti-terrorism technology, products and services.

Following a rigorous application process in which Avigilon met the stringent qualifications outlined in the SAFETY Act, Avigilon’s video surveillance systems have received full Designation as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology and ACM software has received the Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation. These Designations apply to Avigilon Control Center (ACC) video management software, video surveillance cameras, network video recorders and system accessories, as well as ACM software.

“Achieving these SAFETY Act Designations is a testament to our continued commitment to develop technologies that meet the highest safety and security standards,” said Dr. Mahesh Saptharishi, Avigilon's Chief Technology Officer. “Together with our customers we are helping to create safer stadiums, businesses and cities through the use of advanced video surveillance and access control systems.”
