TBS fingerprint readers and Nedap’s AEOS technology for university

TBS fingerprint readers and Nedap’s AEOS technology for university

A university will launch a pilot, using fingerprint technology for student registration at compulsory lectures and exams. In September - the beginning of the next school year – 40 fingerprint units and 15 USB enrolment readers will be installed. The fingerprint identification readers are developed by TBS and is fully integrated with Nedap’s AEOS, the university’s current physical access control system. Hunter Communications Services is responsible for the implementation.

If the pilot is successful, a rollout will follow to equip all 500 class rooms of the university with the fingerprint identification system.

Valuable information

The university expects that this system will give them a 100% assurance that students have actually attended a lecture or participated in an exam. Evidently, this is valuable information, because it not only provides them with a more thorough insight in student participation, but it’s also a way to prevent fraud. Philippe Niederhauser, Head of Sales & Marketing at TBS, “Our fingerprint identification system is reliable, easy to implement and user-friendly. This is not just an advantage for organizations using this technology, but also for individual end-users.”

Perfect match

Jeroen Harmsen, Director of Product Management at Nedap Security Management said, “The high-end fingerprint identification technology as developed by TBS is an excellent extension of our AEOS-platform. The two systems can be seamlessly integrated, so our client - or its students - does not experience any inconvenience during or after the implementation process.” Nick Timm, Technical Director at Hunter Communications Services, a Nedap channel partner, confirms, “We have joined forces with two organizations that are a perfect match in a technological as well as a practical sense. Together with Nedap and TBS we have provided the university with a solution that really fits their needs. We’re looking forward to this pilot and are expecting great results.”
