A university will launch a pilot, using fingerprint technology for student registration at compulsory lectures and exams. In September - the beginning of the next school year – 40 fingerprint units and 15 USB enrolment readers will be installed. The fingerprint identification readers are developed by
TBS and is fully integrated with
Nedap’s
AEOS, the university’s current physical access control system. Hunter Communications Services is responsible for the implementation.
If the pilot is successful, a rollout will follow to equip all 500 class rooms of the university with the fingerprint identification system.

The university expects that this system will give them a 100% assurance that students have actually attended a lecture or participated in an exam. Evidently, this is valuable information, because it not only provides them with a more thorough insight in student participation, but it’s also a way to prevent fraud.
