Vision-Box implements a facial recognition pilot program at JFK Airport
In a collaborative initiative led by Delta and the US Customs and Border Protection, Vision-Box has implemented a facial recognition pilot program at New York – JFK Airport. The eGate tests assure the confirmation of passenger identity using facial recognition technology and Delta ticketing information in a single, automated, reliable and highly secure solution. Upon successful screening the eGate will open for individual passengers to pass into the boarding area.

The initiative intends to enhance the ability to record the departure of visitors by capturing customers’ biometrics upon exit of the United States at the same time they self-scan their boarding pass before boarding. The deployment of this highly advanced biometric technology will provide an innovative and more efficient travel experience for passengers while reinforcing security of the identification procedure and streamlining the airport operations.

Miguel Leitmann, Vision-Box CEO, has stated that “We are excited to partner with Delta to provide an innovative self-boarding e-Gate system that combines airline boarding and biometric exit capture capabilities in a single process. Passenger experience, high biometric accuracy and personal data protection are among the key metrics the pilot is addressing in order to establish a foundation to scale up to other airports.”
