For hotel automation, Jin Long promotes Schneider Electric and its various devices that the company deploys in a variety of hotels, from five-star resorts to business lodging facilities. All devices connect to Schneider’s building management system to achieve automation.
“The hotel operator for example can preset their HVAC or lighting to 10 scenarios, for example what lights should be turned on or off at what time of the day, and the lights will adjust accordingly based on the setting,” explained Leo Lin, Deputy Manager at Jin Long.
The energy that the hotel can save from this type of automation can be significant. “For example we have sensors attached to the side of a window. If strong natural light is detected then the interior lights will be dimmed. On the contrary, in the evening when it turns dark outside, the interior lights will turn up,” Lin said.
Inside the guestroom, room controls can handshake with a reed switch that detects someone opening or closing a door, and lights and HVAC will turn on or off accordingly. “For guestrooms this is important. Guestrooms are not like your own home where you can still walk in darkness. If you open a guestroom door and find you are greeted by total darkness, that feeling is not good,” he said. “This is one instance of how this kind of integration can contribute to increased guest experience.”
For hotel operators, they can also benefit from Jin Long’s digital signage solutions where the lengths and widths of panels can be customized to the customer’s needs. A caveat is that the user should choose industrial-grade signage for display on a 24-7 basis. “If you choose a consumer-grade display it will probably go bust in a few weeks,” Lin said.
Among other exhibits that Jin Long took to Secutech were CCTV and PA systems. Its PA system has three modes. During typical times it plays background music. In the event of a fire or earthquake it will immediately switch to related broadcasts. The solution is targeted at residential buildings and certain government agencies.
