Aimetis, a provider in intelligent video management software, announced that with the help of donations of software and hardware from Aimetis, in addition to generous donations from Bulldog Fire & Security and Axis Communications, the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society have installed a new, sophisticated video surveillance system.

In response to numerous incidents at the Humane Society, Aimetis has donated an Aimetis Physical Security Appliance (PSA) powered by Aimetis Symphony to help manage security footage, as well as the Aimetis Motion Tracking video analytic for proactive monitoring. Axis Communications Canada also donated three top-of-the-line surveillance cameras. To help make the new surveillance system a reality, Kitchener-based security system integrator, Bulldog Fire & Security, donated their time and expertise in installing the whole system at no charge.

“We live and work in the Kitchener-Waterloo community and it’s important for us to give back and help protect organizations like the K-W Humane Society,” said Justin Schorn, Vice President Product Management at Aimetis. “Thanks to the generosity of Ron Laundry at Bulldog Security and David Heath at Axis Communications, we were able to make this new system a reality and hopefully prevent future tragedies.”

The new security system will help the Humane Society monitor their property 24-hours a day with a clear video stream thanks to the new Axis cameras. By using the Aimetis PSA and video analytics, the Humane Society will have an easy-to-use security solution that is also proactive in alerting staff to activity taking place on the premises during off hours.

“These extremely generous donations from Aimetis, Bulldog Security, and Axis Communications will not only enable the Humane Society to identify and prosecute individuals that choose to abandon their pets in the future, but also, hopefully act as a deterrent to this irresponsible behavior,” said Jack Kinch, Executive Director at the Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society. “The response to this tragedy from these organizations is fantastic - their gift will definitely prevent innocent pets from experiencing unnecessary pain, suffering, and possible death in the future.”
