Sony's NVMS: expanded recording, content management and monitoring
Sony’s all-new network video management system (NVMS) -- network video recorders (NVR) and server-based video management software (VMS) -- gives professionals a customizable and flexible solution for managing, storing and analyzing content.
Sony’s all-new network video management system (NVMS) -- network video recorders (NVR) and server-based video management software (VMS) -- gives professionals a customizable and flexible solution for managing, storing and analyzing content. This system is designed for a range of commercial video capture applications including city surveillance, transportation, financial services and education.

The new recorder and software system support a variety of IP camera formats including the latest 4K technologies with unique features offered by Sony’s 4K network cameras. The additions, capable of supporting 4K, strengthen Sony’s 4K leadership position while offering more options for different markets and budgets.

“This new NVR and VMS expand the support for an organization’s overall operations,” said Mr. Riki Nishimura, General Manager of Visual Security Solutions Division, Professional Solutions Company (PSAP) at Sony Electronics Asia Pacific. “With the increase in demand for higher resolution and compatibility with a range of camera systems alongside 4K recording, Sony, through the introduction of the new NVMS, delivers a one-stop solution for customers based on our cutting-edge imaging technologies.”

Key features of the new NVMS include:
  • Local or remote live view/playback and search capabilities
  • Multi-client support on a wide range of devices including PCs, tablets and smartphone
  • Enhanced search functions such as event, or time to increase the efficiency of system operations
  • Situational awareness and detail recognition capabilities which support Sony’s unique features - Intelligent Cropping, both static and dynamic as well as Evidence Shot, which captures the camera’s highest resolution
  • Flexibility to work with analytics embedded in new cameras
  • Support for the complete Sony network camera line-up, including 4K cameras

Standard and Enterprise editions
Sony’s new NVMS will be available in two editions: Standard, for small to mid-sized businesses, and Enterprise, for larger organizations. The Standard edition offers improved functionality and the Enterprise edition is designed to fulfill user needs for large systems that incorporate multiple cameras.

Users can connect up to 288 cameras with the Standard edition alongside 40 cameras per NVR unit. The Enterprise edition allows users to connect up to 4096 cameras alongside 100 cameras per NVR unit. In addition, with the fee-based feature, Smart Wall, Enterprise users can utilize multi-monitor to view crucial areas better.

Combining 4K image capture with 4K recording allows users to benefit from the detail-packed data of 4K high resolution to improve their situational awareness and detail recognition capabilities.

The new NVMS also offers an option for users to “future proof” their technology investment when their video and content management needs change or expand. Sony’s fee-based Software Update Plan (SUP) allows for customers to upgrade their system, especially when new features and functionalities are introduced.

The VMS is scheduled for availability in July 2016 while the NVR is scheduled for December of 2016 in Asia Pacific.
