Senstar aims to be one-stop shop with Aimetis
With the acquisition of Aimetis, the perimeter intrusion detection systems maker Senstar aims to become an end-to-end solution provider of outdoor sensors and integrated video assessment.
With the acquisition of Aimetis, the perimeter intrusion detection systems maker Senstar aims to become an end-to-end solution provider of outdoor sensors and integrated video assessment.

The Canada-based Senstar is a subsidiary of the Israeli company Magal S3. On April 1, the parent company had announced the acquisition for US$ 14 million. In a separate release, Senstar announced the addition of video analytics and management to its portfolio.

“We are very excited to be offering an expanded portfolio of security products to the market,” said Brian Rich, President of Senstar. “The Aimetis product offering complements that of Senstar, providing additional value for system integrators and customers all under one roof. Our customers can now enjoy our ‘one stop shop’ for outdoor sensors and integrated video assessment, as well as our ability to address new non-PIDS applications.”

Magal S3 said the acquisition expands their product portfolio by 20 percent and diversifies their offerings into new verticals like education, health care, and retail. The deal may not affect the company’s earnings in 2016 but is expected to be accretive from 2017.

In its release, Senstar said Aimetis’ platform, which can be integrated with a number of cameras and its perimeter sensors, can address the requirements of several markets including energy, transportation, corrections, military, health care, and retail.

The acquisition comes as Aimetis is set to release the latest version of its VMS software. With this deal, the company joins the likes of Milestone, Video Insight, and Exacq, who were all bought by large manufacturers.
