Spansion announced it joined the ZigBee Alliance. Through active participation in the ZigBee Alliance, Spansion will continue to contribute to open standards and technology collaboration to accelerate the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT).

Spansion Inc., a global supplier in embedded systems, announced it joined the ZigBee Alliance. Through active participation in the ZigBee Alliance, Spansion will continue to contribute to open standards and technology collaboration to accelerate the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoT).

"Spansion is committed to shaping the future of wireless connectivity with smart, innovative and energy efficient technologies," said Dhiraj Handa, senior vice president and general manager of Spansion's Multimarket Microcontroller Business Unit. "Spansion's scalable low-power microcontrollers, industry leading embedded flash and recently announced "battery-less" energy harvesting products provide compelling building blocks for system integrators combining ZigBee products to enable emerging IoT applications, such as building and home automation, smart energy management, LED lighting control, retail services, sensor fusion and wearable devices."
