[Secutech2014] Security sees strong growth in UAE

While security growth in some regions around the world has been slow, growth in the U.A.E. has been exponential. A booming construction industry, along with a win by Dubai to host the 2020 World Expo, is propelling the U.A.E. security market, according to Manzoor Mojib Fatmi, Sales Manager of Nirsun Technology, a security distributor based in Dubai.

Nirsun is no greenhorn when it comes to Secutech, the company has been visiting the show for many years. This year, Nirsun is looking at a variety of security and surveillance solutions for parking lot applications to add to and better complete their portfolio.

As the security arm of the Experts Group, Nirsun Technology was established in 2000 after the group noticed a big demand for specialized IT products. Nirsun started as a distributor of the ViRDI brand of biometric products — they now carry a wide variety of video surveillance products from companies such as Canon, ACTi, and their own brand Cametron, as well as NVRs, access control, etc. Last year alone the company saw a 28 percent growth and expects growth of up to 30 percent for 2014.

Although the Middle East has been slower in adopting network surveillance products compared to Europe and the U.S., growth has been steady, with Fatmi noting that now is the right time to get into the network surveillance market. With 500 some hotels expected to be built in the next three to four years, and the government requiring that new construction projects use IP-based security and surveillance products, both IP-adoption and market growth in the U.A.E. are expected to explode in the coming years.
