Norbain announces that it can now offer customers the new Vectis line of hybrid video recorders (HVRs) from Siemens with new software. This adds a great range of features to the product, including more responsive control for IP-based PTZ cameras as well as improved support for alarm events.

In addition, Vectis HVRs are now easier to integrate with other security systems and support the latest specification of the ONVIF2 open networking standard. Siemens will also introduce a new line of “storage tanks”, which expand the built-in storage capacity of its hybrid video recorders.

The optimised Vectis HVR software ensures that the PTZ functions of specially equipped cameras respond more rapidly. The devices can now receive and process alarm notifications, such as the ones generated by motion detectors in the cameras.

The new software also integrates Vectis HVRs even more closely with other Siemens security systems, including the SiPass access control system and the MM8000 danger management station. In addition, the devices support the latest specification of the ONVIF2 open networking standard, thus ensuring wide-ranging compatibility with cameras from third-party vendors.
