Featured suppliers in Vietnam
The fire and safety sector of the security market in Vietnam is more established than others. The Vietnamese government has referred to some of the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA) regulations, but the implementation of these regulations vary by region, according to an industry expert in Vietnam.

Da Kao
The fire and safety sector of the security market in Vietnam is more established than others. The Vietnamese government has referred to some of the National Fire Protection Association's (NFPA) regulations, but the implementation of these regulations vary by region, according to an industry expert in Vietnam. Product inspection in most regions is not as strict as in Hanoi or HCMC where regulations are closely followed. Although other regional governments have been more lax in following regulations, it has been pointed out that they are improving.

Da Kao, a leading supplier and distributor of fire alarms and security products in Vietnam's security industry, sees potential in the high-end security market. Targeting the high-end market, the company, one of the first in Vietnam to begin selling security cameras, fire alarms, alarms, etc., sees potential there due to its survivability, according to Vu Tien Cong, Director at Da Kao.

Da Kao carries products from well known brands like GE, Honeywell, Siemens, and Tyco. The reason they carry so many leading brands is attributed to their long history in the market, said Vu. With strong market access power, Da Kao is able to have plentiful stock of each brand, allowing them to deliver goods to customers at any time. Additionally, Da Kao has the advantage of having lower prices than smaller distributors as well as a high influx of incoming goods. They also provide technical support to their customers.

Techpro
Established in 2001, Techpro employs 42 people with offices in Hanoi and HCMC. Originally an IT SI for its first three years, the company currently has three business units. One of those units is for automation and industrial computers in which they have nine years of experience. During that time Techpro was able to build up its knowledge in transportation, power energy, oil and gas, and building automation and management. They also have business units for security and building management that work with IDTECK, Nedap, Gunnebo, Sony, etc. With 40-45 percent of their revenue derived from distribution in 2012, Techpro expects revenue from their project team to be higher in 2013 due to good project , prospects, particularly in security and automation.

ion
ion is a distributor whose strength is in their IP product line. However, one major problem noted by Gordon Tat, MD at ion, that stands in the way of the security market's growth is budget constraints. When the economy is not doing well, said Tat, people turn towards Chinese manufacturers due to the pressure for lower prices. Nevertheless, Tat remains optimistic. The company has positioned themselves well in the market with a strong IP product lineup that includes cameras with ability for front-end analysis, cloud service with plug-and-play design, and strengthened back-end products. Tat also pointed out that banks in Vietnam have been accepting of their software.

T&T Security
In 1997, T&T entered into the security industry. T&T went on to become a member of the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) in 1998. Now primarily focused on distribution, the company is a distributor for Pelco by Schneider Electric, UTC Fire & Security (formerly GE Security), and Fermax.

As for purchasing habits in Vietnam, T&T noted that they lean towards G7 products when budget is not of major concern. Although budgets are tight now, once the economy begins to recover, T&T will continue to push products from these industrialized G7 countries.
