G4S, the world's international security solutions group and major supplier to the oil and gas sector, has appointed Brian Christie as global director of its oil and gas business.

Christie will be responsible for the development of the company's global oil and gas strategy by building on G4S' expertise in risk assessment and intelligence, logistics, end-to-end project management and integrated technology solutions.

He will focus on delivering increased reliability in the security of customers' assets, reduced operating costs and stronger corporate reputations through the formation of strategic business partnerships between G4S and oil and gas operators around the world.

Christie has over 30 years of extensive oil industry expertise and knowledge, ranging from hands-on production and drilling experience in the North Sea as a technical service engineer and a drilling engineer, to launching and developing successful oilfield service businesses in Europe, the Middle East, West Africa, Asia, Russia and other former Soviet states.

He joins G4S from Champion Technologies - the second largest oilfield chemical company in the world - where he has worked for the past 10 years.

At CTI he began his career in marketing and business development for Eastern Hemisphere, working his way up to senior divisional manager for the diverse Asia, Russia and Caspian regions. In 2008, he was appointed to the corporate executive strategy team where he helped to develop an innovative strategic plan which turned the business into a market leader.

Prior to this, Christie worked for Baker Hughes for 16 years in various technical and regional management positions.
