The Red Dot Design Award, organized on an annual basis by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Germany, is the world's largest and most famous industrial design competition. For the 2012 edition, over 4,500 of the world's most advanced products were submitted by 1,800 manufacturers and designers — a collection comprising contestants from 58 different countries. When the dust finally settled, Hikvision's “Panda” camera rose to the top of the field on the strength of its exclusive and innovative design.
