The Krasnoyarsk Synthetic Rubber Plant is a unique and Russia's largest producer of nitrile butadiene rubber that is in demand both in domestic and international markets. The plant is a subsidiary of the Sibur Holding, the largest petrochemical company in Russia and Eastern Europe covering the entire industry cycle. The enterprise's infrastructure includes its own access roads, feedstock discharge and finished products loading racks, and feedstock and finished products storage facilities. The plant supplies its products both to the domestic market and to China, Thailand, the United States, India, and Turkey.

As the enterprise steadily developed, the production capacity and finished products volumes were growing and the plant management faced the need to supervise and ensure the technical protection and safety of shop server rooms located across the plant. These are critical for the production process management and automation. In addition, a system was to be set up to register and record employees' personal vehicles accessing the plant's parking lot.

The enterprise's security and IT specialists held intensive consultations examining a number of integrated solutions and finally chose the one offered by the Bastion company. The decision to build the integrated video surveillance and access control system on the Axxon Intellect Enterprise software platform was based on the long successful record of the software suite application at various facilities, including large industrial enterprises. Another major advantage of the Axxon Intellect platform was its modular structure which enables to gradually expand the security system and extend its functionality.

The project's main objectives were to ensure quality video surveillance of the parking lot, automate the parking barriers, identify vehicles entering and exiting from the parking lot as well as to provide surveillance, supervision and access control for the shop server rooms scattered across the plant territory.

The video surveillance system based on Hikvision and ACTi IP cameras provides high quality video signal and remote playback of all cameras' video archive to the security station 27-inch monitors and other automated monitoring workstations. Castle controllers underpin the system which also includes identification devices and actuators, namely, electromagnetic locks and Genius barriers. The access control system's database lists over 500 employee identification cards.

Bastion specialists installed the system in strict compliance with the terms of reference and within the set deadlines. The client received a high quality and reliable access control system including all necessary functions, a system identifying vehicles entering and exiting from the parking lot, automated barriers, and a digital video surveillance system with the video archive located on the plant's security server.
