“We are pleased that the BOP continues to put its trust in Smiths Detection's narcotics trace detectors to increase safety at the prisons and look forward to continuing to build our relationship with it,” said James Viscardi, VP, Sales, Trace Detection.

The solution is a desktop narcotics and explosives trace detection system with a color touch-screen interface and built-in printer. The Ion Mobility Spectrometry detectors and software algorithms make it sensitive and specific when detecting traces of narcotics for effective elimination of false positives. Smiths Detection has supplied more than 10,000 narcotics and explosives trace detectors for corrections, court security, aviation security and force protection.
