With an average of 2,000 authentication transactions each working day across the three facilities, they faced several challenges with the current system to manage time leakage and provide real-time reporting. Also equally important, the transition to a new system needed to be seamless and to be quickly accepted by employees.
Their goal was to find a solution, for their Mexico facility that would accurately track employee hours across multiple remote sites as well as provide real-time attendance records. In addition, the system needed to be interfaced with their centralized HR and financial management system. The new system would replace an existing traditional card-based badge system that had been in place for many years.
They chose to implement a new system from L-1 access solutions as the identity verification component in the new time and attendance solution. The platform was selected as the primary verification device, it is designed to address access control and time and attendance requirements of any size, it boasts the largest template capacity in the industry, IP connectivity and optional integrated card readers. This ensures that when employees arrive on site, they consistently and accurately clock in using their fingerprint to authenticate themselves.
The use of the biometric devices eliminates “buddy punching” and leads to increased productivity as managers no longer have to double check the accuracy of time sheets. Furthermore the solutions are IP enabled making it a much simpler task to integrate with the centralized HR system.
The system installation was managed by the IT Team Lead. “This was our first biometric deployment and our initial concerns about employee acceptance were quickly alleviated when employees realized how convenient it is to use their finger for authentication versus other methods. Not only do our employee's view the system as convenient and easy to use, we also have more assurance in our time keeping processes.”
By replacing the old traditional card-based badge system with L-1's fingerprint device, they reduced HR administrative time by up-to four hours each pay period due to the real-time interface. Employees have a convenient method of authentication and the company has more confidence and assurance with their time keeping process.
