Cameras usually use "resolution" to measure the ability of resolving details of the scene being shot.

The unit is "TV lines (TVL)", also known as line. It means,from the horizontal point of view, equivalent to erect every scan line, and then multiply 4/3 (aspect ratio), constitute the total horizontal lines, called horizontal resolution. It's widely used in surveillance cameras because of the small size file it creates.

TVL (Television Lines) is a specification of an analog camera's or monitors's horizontal resolution power. TVL is one of the most important resolution measures in a video system. The higher the TVL is, the better the picture will be.

TVL means "TV line", used to measure the ability of resolving details of the scene being shot.
Pixel is consistituted by small dots of various colors. The more the dots are, the clearer the picture will be when enlarged.

Both of them can form an image, but the image formation principle is different.
The former is constituted by line while the latter is constituted by dots.
