Synectics VMS Upgrades US Casino Surveillance System

Synectic Systems, a developer and manufacturer of enterprise-class digital recording solutions, announced Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas chose its surveillance system powered by video management software and best-of-breed hardware. This will be the first system to be installed in a major Las Vegas property and joins the more than 50 gaming installations the company has deployed throughout North America and Canada. Synectics' solution, with its proven track record of 99.999 percent uptime, will provide around-the-clock surveillance of the 80,000 square foot casino, which features more than 50 game tables, 1,200 slot and video poker machines, a poker room, and race and sports book betting.

Synectics participated in an extensive product testing process and was selected by the Stratosphere based on its flexible digital recording system that allows for existing and future technology integrations and complies with Nevada gaming regulations.

"Synectics was chosen for our new surveillance system because of their superior video management software, flexibility, ease of use and proven track record," stated Jerry McCawley, Corporate VP of Surveillance for Stratosphere Casino. "Synectics' solution offers us advanced integrations and high quality video recording with a simple user interface. For our highly demanding environment, Synectics offers the best product, integrator and service warranty to back it up."

Utilizing Synectics internal encoders, the system will record the casino's cameras using H.264 video compression technology for motion picture quality video and maximum storage efficiency. The system is designed to incorporate HD network cameras in the casino's most sensitive area and provides multiple layers of failover protection with hot swap and RAID-6 redundancy for all recording. Three remote recording locations will be backhauled via fiber and consolidated into a new central video surveillance recording and reviewing room that will contain all video switching and recording equipment.

Working with integrator/installer Technical Security Integration, Synectics will upgrade Stratosphere to a digital recording system with custom integration to a new Pelco matrix and the casino's PoS, access control, and slot management systems. Integration of video to third-party systems through Synergy will include Dataveillance tools to mine and correlate alarm and transactional data to identify suspicious behavior patterns, fraudulent activities, slot performance, marketing trends. This information, when tied to video, can be used effectively to enhance the overall efficiency, security and profitability of the casino.
