Legic Identsystems, a manufacturer of contactless smart card technology for personal identification, strengthens its market position in the United States by partnering with Detroit-based system integrator SBD Companies. The partnership will result in new security solutions based on the multifunctional identification technology Legic advant. Through the agreement, SBD is responding to growing demand of Legic-based security and access control solutions in North America.

In the future, the system integrator will be enabled to introduce Legic based identification solutions to its customers. The technology allows the combination of many different functionalities — such as access control, time and attendance, electronic payment — all on one single credential.

The agreement between SBD Companies and Legic is consistent with the efforts of Legic to continue to expand its presence in North America. This growth is important to support current and future end users using Legic contactless smart card technology in North America.

Jason Buckman, CEO of Security By Design, (SBD), felt both companies will benefit from the partnership. “Legic provides latest-generation technology on a very high security standard. The partnership allows us to offer cutting-edge and reliable contactless identification solutions to our customers,” he said.

Otto Eggimann, VP of Sales and Business Development of Legic, is convinced the partnership will be of benefit for both parties. “The license agreement with SBD is a very important further step in expanding and strengthening our partner network and presence in North America,” he said. “It will further enhance the offering of state-of the-art security and multifunctional solutions based on our flexible smart card technology to U.S. customers.”
