Indiana is opening a new state-wide fingerprinting network to enable all of its agencies to more rapidly and accurately process required background checks. This includes the Indiana Department of Children's Services, Secretary of State, Indiana Professional Licensing Agency and Bureau of Motor Vehicles, among others.

Applicants, at the request of state agencies, can visit any of the approximately 60 new enrollment centers to be opened and operated by L-1 in cities throughout Indiana for enrollment and processing. The L-1 enrollment centers will use L-1 TP 4100 live scan devices for fingerprint capture. Indiana expects to fingerprint more than 100,000 residents annually.

"This service gives us the ability to streamline the process for a more thorough background check for potential licensed job applicants and as a result all of our citizens will benefit,” said Major Doug Shelton of the Indiana State Police. “Our state agencies now have another tool for ensuring they are making the right employment decisions and are getting more qualified applicants.”

Robert LaPenta, Chairman, President and CEO of L-1 Identity Solutions said, "More and more states like Indiana are turning to L-1's enrollment services to provide a single, more efficient process that removes the burden of performing employment background checks from local police departments. We also have a proven track record of providing fast and accurate identity information to employers for more secure licensing and employment decisions. L-1 provides value across the board: for state licensing agencies, local law enforcement and residents.”

L-1 solutions can be found in nearly every U.S. state, helping protect and secure personal identities and assets with tools that aid law enforcement, public safety and state-licensing agencies. The Enrollment Services Division of L-1 provides fingerprint-based background checks services that process applicant data required for federal and state licensed programs and jobs in the banking, finance, insurance, health care, legal, real estate, education and other industries. L-1 operates a network of 700 convenient and secure centers located across 46 U.S. states and in most Canadian provinces where prospective licensee and employee fingerprints are captured in a friendly, professional environment by a certified fingerprint technician. The prints are taken using state-of-the-art live scan equipment that captures fingerprints without the use of ink and submits them electronically. As a result, customers can receive criminal history results in days, faster results means agencies and organizations get the identity information needed to make licensing and hiring decisions more quickly and accurately than ever before.
