A North Shields-based video surveillance systems integrator is going behind bars, but for all the right reasons, having secured a four-year contract as the maintenance provider for 14 prisons in the North West.

2020 Vision announced it secured more than US$2.9 million in other security contracts, was awarded the long-term contract by The Ministry of Justice, ahead of five other companies from across the United Kingdom. 2020 Vision will now be responsible for the video corrective and preventative maintenance for the 14 prisons. The contract starts this month, involves looking after a wide range of electronic security products from various suppliers in addition to scheduled maintenance visits. 2020 Vision is confident that it can supply the best possible service and response times to faults and repairs for this high risk prison environment.

Peter Houlis, MD of 2020 Vision, said, "2009 looks set to be a good year for expansion, after securing more than US$2.9 million contracts at the back end of last year, we've now secured this prestigious contract from The Ministry of Justice."

"2020 has a fantastic track record specializing in public sector work for prisons, hospitals, universities and other similar establishments," Houlis said. "We're delighted to have been awarded this contract and we're looking forward to commencing work very soon."
