OPTi Networks was established five years ago with an aim of offering the best networking solutions from both a cost and technical standpoint. The company is developing into one of the providers of data networking and security solutions to education, local government, enterprize and healthcare sectors.

OPTi Networks won a contract for the MOD and was responsible for managing Government property. They needed to store millions of pounds worth of technology securely and needed a solution that could be installed quickly and simply into an already networked building. The site, which consisted of a large storage area and an entrance on another side of the building needed to be monitored 24/7.

OPTi Networks contacted IPnrg, a supplier in security technology integrator, who after a site visit, provided a portable unit of Plustekˇs NVR4000 network video recorder along with two Axis Communicationsˇ cameras, the AXIS 211 Network Camera to monitor the security entrance and the AXIS 212 PTZ camera to be placed in the actual storage warehouse.

The solution was installed in less than a day with the cameras networked to the Plustek NVR4000 unit, which in turn just plugged into the existing local area network.

Plustekˇs NVR4000 connects directly to a network, providing motion Jpeg (M-JPEG) recordings, which can be managed through IP (Internet protocol) or over a LAN (local area network). The Plustek NVR4000 provides 4 LAN ports for IP cameras, is reliable and affordable and has a 320GB hard disc that lets users store data for about 14 days with VGA resolution at one frame per second from four video channels, with no degradation in image quality. The NVR4000 enables users to remotely access recorded material and view all live videos on one page through an intuitive interface and simple management system.

As well as being straightforward to install and easy to use, its bundled software application enables simultaneous recording and remote access to live views and playback of recorded images from up to four Plustek network cameras. It also offers scheduled and triggered recordings at speeds of up to 120 frames per second in QVGA (320x240 pixels) and QCIF (160x120) and Up to 30 frames VGA(640x480). For companies that want to expand their surveillance programme, the NVR4000 provides a scalable and distributed management solution of up to 32 channels as up to 8 NVR4000s can be networked together.

The AXIS 211 Network Camera is designed for professional indoor and outdoor security surveillance and remote monitoring. It provides superior image quality using progressive scan and offers built-in support for Power over Ethernet, motion detection and advanced event management. The AXIS 212 PTZ is the only PTZ network camera that provides full overview, and instant, one-click pan/tilt/zoom -with maintained sharp image resolution.
