Partner Tech, a leading innovator and manufacturer of intelligent retail and hospitality solutions, today announced that its AI-powered self-checkout (SCO) platform built with real-time theft prevention, has earned certification for integration with Verifone Commander, the leading site controller and point-of-sale platform for convenience stores and fuel retailers
Partner Tech, a leading innovator and manufacturer of intelligent retail and hospitality solutions, today announced that its AI-powered self-checkout (SCO) platform built with real-time theft prevention, has earned certification for integration with Verifone Commander, the leading site controller and point-of-sale platform for convenience stores and fuel retailers. The certification clears the way for deployment across more than 55,000 fuel and convenience sites in North America — roughly 45% of all U.S. fuel and convenience stores.
Retailers can now add Partner Tech's advanced self-checkout terminals alongside their existing Verifone Commander C18 terminals without replacing payment, fueling, loyalty, and store management infrastructure within Commander.
"Convenience retailers need solutions that improve efficiency without compromising the customer experience," said Sandra Hsia, President of Partner Tech USA. "Our self-checkout platform integrates easily with existing operations and combines faster checkout, advanced loss prevention, and greater convenience for shoppers."
Partner Tech's self-checkout portfolio, including the Alfred, Starling and Paula SCO terminals, runs on the company's Otter SCO software suite, which uses AI and computer vision to speed transactions and reduce losses.
Key capabilities include:
- AI-powered theft detection and real-time transaction monitoring
- Barcode scanning and automatic item recognition with computer vision
- Security scale, live video, and age verification support
- Full integration with Verifone POS, payment, and loyalty programs
- An attendant station for lane monitoring and support
- A dashboard for proactive performance monitoring
- Flexible hardware options for different store formats and traffic volumes
Through the Commander integration, retailers can add one or multiple self-checkout lanes while continuing to manage payments, fuel sales, loyalty programs, promotions, and site operations through a centralized Commander Site Controller. The solution supports fuel prepay, age-restricted products, and other core convenience store functions, and it deploys on infrastructure retailers already have.
"Commander was built with an open architecture, so innovators like Partner Tech can connect quickly and deliver value to retailers without friction," said James Hervey, EVP of Petro at Verifone. "By combining Verifone's Commander platform with Partner Tech's AI-powered self-checkout technology, retailers can modernize the in-store experience while protecting profitability."
The certified solution is available immediately for convenience stores, travel centers, and fuel retailers throughout North America, with availability in additional regions and markets worldwide.
Partner Tech will showcase its Verifone Commander-certified self-checkout solution at booth 6179 at the NACS Show, October 7-9, 2026. Attendees can experience the AI-powered checkout platform firsthand at the Partner Tech booth and learn how convenience retailers can increase throughput, reduce shrink, and enhance the customer experience.
