On June 6, 2025, Hikvision and ITE College collaborated on a caring CSR initiative aimed at supporting the children and community through meaningful engagement and collaboration with Club Rainbow (Singapore), an organization that supports and empowers children with chronic illnesses and their families by providing compassionate, relevant services in their journey towards an enriching life.
Discovering the invisible: ‘Hot & Cold Detectives’ workshop
The day began with a specially designed science workshop called ‘Hot & Cold Detectives: Play with Invisible Science!’. These interactive sessions utilized Hikvision's thermal imaging products to transform abstract concepts into tangible learning experiences, enabling children to explore the fascinating world of “hot and cold” — turning invisible science into hands-on fun.
In the workshop, Hikvision’s staff and student volunteers from ITE College guided children in exploring the concepts of light and heat through simple experiments, such as creating rainbows using flashing lights. In another session, Hikvision’s staff demonstrated how everyday objects can produce heat pictures on thermal imaging cameras by carrying out an interesting experiment of observing hot and cold water. Moving from theory to practice, they also showed how such technologies can be used to protect wildlife and prevent forest fires, allowing children to witness the charms of technology and the hope it brings to the world.
Adventure in learning: an exciting treasure hunt game
Following the workshop, excitement peaked during the treasure hunt games. Equipped with Hikvision’s thermal imaging cameras, the children played a treasure hunt game and won prizes by finding various hot and cold objects to solve different challenges and puzzles. It was a highly engaging game that reinforced their newly acquired knowledge, allowing them to apply concepts in a fun and practical way.
Exploring innovation with a visit to the Hikvision-ITE Lab
The experience deepened with a tour of the Hikvision-ITE Collaborative Lab conducted by ITE College lecturers and students. Here, children and their families gained firsthand experience of a range of Hikvision products and solutions, including Solutions for Education and Smart Campus. This immersive visit showcased how technologies such as these contribute to building a safer and smarter world.
More than just one day, but a lasting commitment
This initiative is a part of our long-standing STAR Program for Social Good, reflecting Hikvision's deep commitment to leveraging technology for positive social impact. In full sponsorship of this initiative, Hikvision reaffirms its dedication to supporting education and enriching the lives of future generations. We extend our sincere gratitude to ITE College and Club Rainbow (Singapore) for their invaluable partnership in bringing this inspiring day of discovery and joy to the children and their families.
Witnessing the children's curiosity and engagement was profoundly rewarding. It underscored our belief that technology, combined with compassion, can illuminate new possibilities and bring hope to communities, fulfilling our hope for “Tech for a Better World”.
