Asia's biggest security event continues as exhibitors showcase their best-of-breed made-in-Taiwan products and solutions that address various user needs.
Secutech 2024 enters its second day. The show this year is held Apr. 24 to 26 at the Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, under the theme of “Intelligent Security Automation and Smart Operation Management.” Indeed, exhibitors are displaying their AIoT-enabled products and solutions that meet users’ security and non-security needs.
Solving user needs with AI
One exhibitor, Foresight began as a research group incubated in a university and now has become its own company. At the show, Foresight is displaying its self-developed AI solutions for various applications. Among them is a factory solution that helps operators achieve better yields and efficiency. The AI can be trained to recognize good seeds from bad seeds, making it ideal for food factories. Foresight also has an office AI application similar to ChatGPT. The office can input company-wide rules and guidelines into a database; the staff can then enter a query about a particular company rule and get a response instantly.
Vacron meanwhile demonstrates a range of applications targeting smart transportation. Of note is a bus application powered by their mobile DVR which can co-work with various in-vehicle cameras and devices to detect driver fatigue, inclement road conditions and other risky scenes/behavior.
Vacron has also rolled out their Daycare Surveillance Cloud System amid public focus on children's safety. The system solves the problem of missing videos, and further avoids the possibility of human-caused deletion of crucial evidence, ensuring that child abuse can be spotted and dealt with swiftly. Also, the system is equipped with AI analysis to conduct an "anomaly alert" before the incident. When the ratio between the teacher and students is large, accidents could be hard to notice timely when they take place. The solution will alert promptly when stumbles or other unsafe acts are detected, allowing the staff to check in time, and lower the risk of delay.
Hunt, meanwhile, has also rolled out various AIoT-enabled solutions leveraging their self-developed software as well as the company’s own expertise in manufacturing video surveillance equipment over past decades. Of note is an illegal garbage disposal detection solution. While not common in Taiwan, some individuals are known to illegally dispose of household trash in streets and alleyways. The solution can thus be useful for law enforcement and environmental protection agencies. Besides that, Hunt also has on display their cutting-edge thermal cameras, explosion-proof cameras and 4G/5G cameras that can be useful in remote places where laying cables is difficult.
Best made-in-Taiwan hardware and equipment
Indeed, exhibitors are showcasing their best-of-breed made-in-Taiwan hardware products and equipment that address various user needs. COP Security Systems for example showcases their Ethernet-over-coaxial transceivers enabling users to use IP cameras in conjunction with their existing coaxial infrastructure. This can be useful for various user organizations for example factories, a lot of which are equipped with coaxial infrastructure. COP also has PoE extenders to lengthen coverage distance between IP devices and the power source. Finally, the company has IR illuminators for highway and wide area usage, effectively boosting illumination range up to 450 meters.
