Verghese Thirumala, Managing Director for Maxitulin Group, spoke to asmag.com about the importance of conducting physical security system training in Malaysia.
"Malaysia, like most other countries, is facing a shortage of human capital in all industries. Governments are trying to narrow the gap between the supply and demand of labor forces. Security is vital not only at the national macro level but even at the local level, including the industrial, commercial and residential segments. A shortage of human capital can hinder the security and safety of all these segments.
Malaysian industrial, commercial and corporate security executives and managers are mainly from enforcement departments like the police and military who are good in investigation, risk assessment and analysis. The security industry revolves around the security guarding concept.
The equation of security is changing with the evolution of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics and Big Data. We see significant growth in security system technologies alongside advancements in networking technologies and connectivity. These developments are changing the way security is being operated.
When the correct security technologies and security guarding equation is formulated, the challenges of workforce shortage are removed. In fact, companies can save on costs as security systems have low operational costs, unlike recurring guarding personnel costs.
The Physical Security System concept, logic, design and applications training cum workshop will prepare the security fraternity to understand the concepts of physical security systems and how to apply them effectively to improve the overall security of the organization and minimize threats to assets or employees/people based on S.W.O.T analysis. This course is useful as training on the technological evolution of security systems will be imparted and participants will learn how security, safety and IT departments can work together to make a safer working environment.
As the world is moving quickly towards digitalization with the evolution of technologies, connectivity, AI, Big Data and IoT, this training helps participants not only to have a holistic view of how physical security systems can be an effective tool for security and safety, but also how security systems help in improving productivity and reducing costs.
It is time for even the security staff on the ground to upskill to understand and use security technologies. A good mix of technologies and skilled personnel is the future of the security and safety of any organization and even the nation."
Dates for the upcoming workshops are as follows:
- Sept. 19-20, 2023 event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
