LILIN announces the world’s first shockproof LPR PTZ cameras

LILIN announces the world’s first shockproof LPR PTZ cameras
In 2023, Merit LILIN released its “Shockproof AI PTZ” technology based on IMU (inertial measurement unit) which added an anti-vibration function into current AI LPR cameras to extend their application to more critical environments and help implement traffic management policies more easily.
License plate recognition (LPR) has been recognized as a mature solution in various applications such as parking management, intelligent transportation, law enforcement, and vehicle tracking. Merit LILIN, a well-known AI Surveillance Solutions manufacturer, has been involved in this market for quite a long time. These systems have been widely applied in projects, from powerful back-end hosts to flexible front-end cameras.

In 2023, Merit LILIN released its “Shockproof AI PTZ” technology based on IMU (inertial measurement unit) which added an anti-vibration function into current AI LPR cameras to extend their application to more critical environments and help implement traffic management policies more easily.

The primary reason for developing shockproof functionality has to do with camera installation. Exposure to wind flow or vehicle vibration, especially when a vehicle travels across a viaduct, can greatly impact video quality. If the resulting images are blurred, object recognition might be inaccurate and system efficiency would be tremendously reduced.

The cost of conventional methods to prevent videos from being blurred can be too high. Adding external equipment can increase the difficulty and complexity of the whole framework, and the software might need to be more efficient.

LILIN IMU Series PTZ Cameras can deal with these problems more smartly

The hardware in the IMU Series PTZ cameras features a mechanical anti-vibration design to reduce physical movement. A built-in IMU sensor then corrects any additional distortions with algorithms that accurately measure 3-axis acceleration. This gyro-stabilized system can withstand up to 15g vertical shock and 9g horizontal shock (g is the unit of acceleration), enabling stable video capture in all general scenarios.

Typical applications include fire trucks providing real-time status updates or police cars/private companies looking for specific cars. LILIN IMU Series PTZ cameras are compatible with the LILIN AI Plug-in and can be customized to fit the needs of different fields and cases. With LPR, object counting and private zone features, the IMU Series can satisfy almost all intelligent transportation system requirements. Users can even use their own AI models in the camera to save time from re-training the existing model.

In addition, PTZ tracking is another key feature of this device. Few cameras come with simultaneous PTZ tracking and AI functionality. Intelligent traffic applications require camera deployment in various environments such as streets with people and cars in parallel. LILIN AI cameras can analyze these objects and their behavior with ease.

In terms of performance, the LILIN IMU Series PTZ camera integrates object recognition and behavior models on the edge. All the heavy workloads are done on the front-end camera and events will output from the physical I/O without an additional PC.

Since LILIN has built a whole AI recognition framework into one camera, system integrators can integrate and deploy solutions much more smoothly. Different AI models can deal with any scenario.

LILIN AI cameras also provide SDKs to integrate with post-data processing. A Python/C# engineer can run their desired functions via the LILIN GitHub open-source project.

The waterproof and vandal-proof design is another advantage for the LILIN IMU PTZ camera to fit outdoor installations. It has obtained various certifications which assist enterprises or system integrators to install surveillance solutions quickly and reduce project installation times. All LILIN hardware and software are TAA and NDAA compliant and manufactured in Taiwan.

The LILIN IMU Series PTZ camera also recently won an honorable mention in the video surveillance camera category for the 2023 SIA New Products and Solutions Awards, an awards program presented in partnership with ISC West that recognizes innovative security products, services and solutions.
