James Cook University's Daintree Rainforest Obervatory in Australia enlisted the aid of longtime Milestone solution partner, CoastalCOMS, for a surveillance system that can aid them to remotely monitor the osprey nest. They designed a Milestone solution that consisted of high-definition cameras mounted on a crane boom and tower which provided a good vantage point to observe the nesting area.
The easy-to-use open platform IP video management software (VMS) allowed researchers to view, record, and download clips or single frames of events of interest. Additionally, remote viewing and image extraction via phones and tablets was made possible using Milestone's mobile app.
