In recent years, Australia has been faced with slow economic growth, which has caused local spending to be effected from the recent year budget cut and the mining industry. Many security projects have been put on hold. Australian has become a much more price sensitive market that is willing to consider low cost solutions, knowing that it will cost more in the long run.

According to Tamir Ginat, Senior VP for APAC at IndigoVision, the market in Australia is product driven. “There are very few customers and markets that are look at the total cost of ownership and the saving a smart solution can bring to their business over five years' time,” he said.

However, as opportunities such as city surveillance and perimeter security arise in the country, there are more and more companies establishing offices in Australia which will help users to receive better technical and service support. Especially since the NBN plans to roll out their broadband network to one third of all homes and businesses by 2017, IP growth is likely to receive a huge boost that will facilitate the growth of the IoT trend in the security industry. “It's all about looking for smarter solutions when more and more things and objects are connected to the Internet and require better security,” said Ginat.
