Ademco, established in 1977, provides security solutions and services to businesses and governments across Asia. With their regional HQ in Singapore, the company has a clear view of the security industry in Singapore.

Over the past few years, the security industry in Singapore has been going through a transition. With tight labor markets and the rising cost, the industry has been affected just like any other. This has prompted many to relook at deploying smarter and more innovative technologies to move away from a labor intensive security landscape.

The government and commercial sector have been growing in recent years, but in different pace. “The last years has seen commercial sectors such as office, retail, and residential space rolling out many projects and it is suffering from a little excess. The government sector however, will be enhancing many public facilities and infrastructure that were long overdue,” said Patrick Lim, Group Sales and Marketing Director of Ademco.

Singapore launched its first safe city test bed initiative last year to explore possibilities of deploying a city-wide integrated surveillance system. “The initiative is a fantastic idea and Singapore needs to keep up with the advanced economies which have started similar initiatives. Singapore is very well placed to make the concept a reality as we already have a strong infrastructure in place,” said Lim. “Ademco is a strong support of the initiative and we think there will be long term opportunities to the top quality platers, especially those that have established solutions development abilities,” Lim added. Opportunities for cloud and management service providers will also be a key player in the initiative, as the trend is moving towards an infrastructure and solutions-as-a-service, that are flexible, easy to adopt, with zero footprint and will be low maintenance.
