Digitalcom, a leading distributor of security products in Thailand, will expand into the software-as-a-service (SaaS) arena to widen its reach to customers.
The company is a distributor of some of the world's most famous security brands. These include hardware manufacturers such as Axis and Mobotix, as well as software vendors including Milestone and Agent VI. Axis is Digitalcom's largest client, contributing 60 to 65 percent of the firm's revenue, followed by Milestone.
To reach out to more customers, Digitalcom will make inroads into the software as a service (SaaS) sector, said Suwich Chitkasemsuk, MD at Digitalcom. The company has inked deals with Thai telecom operators to provide SaaS to their customers, most of whom are retailers seeking business enabling – that is, using traditional surveillance products to drive business, count the number of customers, and find out what they want, he said. The service will launch in 2014 Q4.
At the same time, Digitalcom will also provide installation and maintenance service for customers to offer them more value.
Chitkasemsuk sees explosive growth next year, citing Thailand's security industry is set to grow 30 percent in 2015 compared to 2013, as the new military government seeks to maintain societal stability, continue with security investments, and root out corruption.
According to Chitkasemsuk, the new government is working hard to make people “love each other.” The more stability, the more attractive Thailand will be for the business community, he said.
