Samsung Electronics is planning to expand supplies to India's telecom equipment market by riding on the rise of 4G networks.

Kim Young Ky, head of Samsung's network division, said that the electronics giant was “giving its full efforts” to supply additional network equipment to the emerging market.

“The spectrum auction at India is nearing its close,” said Kim. “We are putting in our full effort to supply additional network equipments there.”

The Indian government recently put up 900 and 1800 megahertz spectrums for auction, with latter planned to be used to roll out 4G long-term evolution (LTE) networks.

As more radio stations are required for the 1800 megahertz compared to 900, Samsung will get ample chance to supply more.

Samsung supplied 70,000 radio stations to Indian telecom Reliance Jio Infocomm late last year and for $1.2 billion.
