Despite the economical impact led by political uncertainty and national elections within the region, HID Global experienced growth during 2013. "Security is critical component for most companies. Enterprises are looking to migrate their legacy access control solutions to secure, high frequency smart card solutions and as a result, we had quite a number of migration installations across ASEAN," said Wei Jin Lee, Director of Sales, ASEAN, HID Global. "We also experienced an acceleration of IP-based access control solutions for increased functionality and application convergence."

"Geographically, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines are key drivers of our business," added Lee. "Emerging markets like Indonesia, government investment in public infrastructure contributes greatly to our growth. While for mature markets, investment from financial institutions and enterprises is critical."

"As there is a growing demand for interoperable migration solutions and higher security to protect customers' technology investments in ASEAN, we offer multiCLASS SE solutions to bridge the gap between legacy solutions such as proximity and advanced and higher security, high frequency smart card solutions," said Lee. "The multi-technology platform allows organizations to replace all of their low frequency readers with combination low and high frequency readers. Then, rather than switching out all of the cards at once, high frequency cards can be issued to new employees and as replacements for lost cards with existing employees. This will smoothen the migration process and offset the cost of swapping out all of the cards at once."

"Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Philippines will remain our key growth drivers," said Lee. "However, new emerging economies like Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar has enormous growth potential as these countries are undergoing economical reform and number of public infrastructure projects are in place. We also expect to see growth in each of our major markets, which include the financial, healthcare, enterprise/SMB, government, and education sectors."
