Tamron is known for their high-quality photographic lenses. They have since taken that strength and applied it to the security market. With long term investment plans in India, Tamron established an office in the country in 2009, seeing a bright future for the Indian security market. Although Tamron is confident the market is there, Nitin Goyal, President and CEO of Tamron India noted the difficulties being faced by quality brands right now in India. In spite of these difficulties, Goyal sees huge potential in video surveillance, not just in India, but globally for Tamron.

Noting the slow but steady growth for video surveillance in India, Tamron pointed out that growth for quality brands like theirs has been slow but good. Tamron has experienced over 100 percent growth in the last two years, although Goyal noted that the base number was low to begin with. Even so, growth is happening.

Tamron has already executed several city surveillance projects in India, using Panasonic cameras in Delhi and Sony cameras in Kolkata. In the future, Tamron plans to target metro projects. Because the banking market is very price sensitive, Goyal believes they will have a better chance in that vertical after it shifts more to IP. In the mean time, Tamron plans to do their best to educate the Indian market on the benefits of good quality lenses.
