The government of the Republic of Indonesia and the government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam signed a Strategic Cooperation Implementation for the years 2014 to 2018. Marty Natalegawa, Indonesian Foreign Minister, and Pham Binh Minh, Vietnamese Foreign Minister, signed the agreements, and the ceremony was witnessed by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yuhoyono and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang.

According to Natalegawa after the signing, both agreements explained in detail the steps to be taken by both governments to describe their comprehensive partnership in politics, security, social, economy and people-to-people relations.

"With a clear target, we can easily measure progress, and Vietnam is an important country for Indonesia. This will be a document that is strategic in nature," Natalegawa explained.

Both sides agreed to work hand in hand with other ASEAN members to build a united community by 2015 and bring ASEAN Economic Community into full play.
