Detroit’s NHL arena ensures 24/7 security with MediaWall V

Detroit’s NHL arena ensures 24/7 security with MediaWall V
The arena for the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, the Little Caesars Arena, has been enhanced with a state-of-the-art security operations center to assure safety and security.
The arena for the NHL’s Detroit Red Wings, the Little Caesars Arena, has been enhanced with a state-of-the-art security operations center (SOC) to assure safety and security. The Little Caesars Arena is the first arena in the United States to earn DHS/Safety Act Certification and was awarded the 2018 Sports Facility of the Year by Sports Business Journal. The Security Consultant on the Little Caesars Arena SOC project, DVS, won the Elliot Boxerbaum Memorial Award for Security Project of the Year.

The arena’s SOC is powered by RGB Spectrum’s MediaWall V 4K video wall processor. The project was implemented jointly by security integrators Identify and Avigilon. These integrators selected the MediaWall V processor for its real-time performance, exceptional 4K image quality, and well-integrated operator control stations.

The SOC is a comprehensive security system including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection. It provides complete video surveillance coverage throughout the facility and all perimeter zones for thorough monitoring, in compliance with NHL and NBA security requirements.

The MediaWall V processor receives feeds from the access control system, IP surveillance cameras, and the intrusion detection system. The processor consolidates these various sources and displays them in windows of any size, anywhere on an expansive 2 x 5 video wall array.

MediaWall V displays visuals in real-time, with no dropped frames and with exceptional image clarity. Operators can instantly switch input sources and choose from up to 60 customizable, preset display layouts. Integrated signal switching eliminates the need for external switchers. MediaWall V’s advanced display capabilities include window borders and titles, on-screen clocks, freeze frame, and pan and zoom to view items of particular interest.

For operator control, the SOC utilizes RGB Spectrum’s MCMS, an innovative control room management system designed for collaborative work environments. It allows up to three operators to share arbitrated keyboard/mouse (KVM) control of both signal sources and the video wall processor itself. MCMS provides operators with a highly-graphical control interface that is intuitive and streamlined. Offering live thumbnails and drag-and-drop capabilities, the user interface makes it easy for operators to monitor and control all security system components.

For secure operation, MediaWall V’s embedded architecture resists hacking and tampering, protects against intrusion by malware, and avoids the vulnerabilities that PC-based wall processor systems risk. Additionally, MCMS creates an “air-gap” that separates operators from system input resources. Operator workstations are not directly networked to source systems, reducing the possibility of infection by malware or other viruses.

With superior 4K image quality, 24/7 reliability, secure operation, and feature-rich capabilities, RGB Spectrum’s MediaWall V video wall processor is the ideal choice for security operations centers, control rooms, command centers, traffic management facilities, network operations centers, digital signage, emergency operations centers, digital signage, and lobby displays.
