In 2013, the Kuwait Ministry of Public Works (MPW) started construction of the world's biggest maritime causeway project, the Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah causeway. The causeway is located on the Kuwait Bay and includes the construction of two roads that reduce travel time to Subiyah and Doha. Tariq Anwer, Sales Director Middle East & West Asia at

Local partner
“Big projects like this usually require multiple contractors," Anwer states. "We got involved with the project through our local partner, Delite Engineering Center (DEC), who was hired by the MPW’s intelligent traffic systems contractor. DEC helped to make sure that our systems complied with the tender’s requirements, the government regulations and that they interfaced well with other traffic management systems.”
Proven track record
When asked why the MPW would choose Siqura, Anwer answers: "Because we make a high quality product and we have a proven track record with traffic surveillance systems, especially in the Middle East. Besides that, our cameras are compliant with the project's specifications and interface well with existing Selected Incident Detection and Traffic Data Collection systems." Siqura supplied the causeway with 819 fixed cameras for regular monitoring and analytics, and 25 PTZ cameras that can be used in case of incidents or traffic jams.
Once in a lifetime
"Projects like this only come along once in a lifetime," concludes Anwer. "It's not often that you get the chance to supply the regions longest and one of the longest bridges in the world with a video surveillance system. I am very excited to be a part of this one of a kind project."
