EnGenius debuts mesh Wi-Fi solution for homes at US$99
EnGenius Technologies, a networking solutions company for both consumers and businesses, has introduced its first consumer Wi-Fi mesh network system called the MESHdot Kit, which aims to eliminate dead spots at home
EnGenius Technologies, a networking solutions company for both consumers and businesses, has introduced its first consumer Wi-Fi mesh network system called the MESHdot Kit.

The kit bundle includes a wireless mesh router EMR3500 and a mesh node MESHdot (EMD11). Both devices are created with Qualcomm’s technology and aim to eliminate Wi-Fi dead spots at home.

The mesh router features 360-degree antenna, while the mesh node is designed as a plug, so that users can simply plug the device to extend coverage to spotty Wi-Fi areas at home. The router supports up to eight nodes in the same network.

In the companion EnMesh free app, users can share Wi-Fi passwords with guests, monitor real-time data about who’s connecting the network, manage and limit someone’s internet access time or ban someone from the network. It also includes parental control feature, which allows them to set up weekly schedules and set accessibility limits for social media, search engines, video contents or URLs.

The MESHdot Kit uses automatic firmware update to ensure users will always have the latest service and security features without doing the updates manually.

“By offering the MESHdot Kit to the world, we are responding to a market-demand for plug-and-play affordable, eye-pleasing products able to support stable mesh network that can cover an entire house. And this is just the beginning, in 2019, we will continue to introduce EnGenius products that help smart homes operate smoothly,” said MC Leo, general manager of EnGenius Technologies, in a statement.

The MESHdot Kit, including a mesh Wi-Fi router and a mesh node, will become available in the first quarter of 2019 for US$99. The company did not specify the price for an individual node.
