LiveWatch Security releases Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 system for faster and more accessible home security
Home technology innovator LiveWatch Security has continued improving speed and affordability in the home security industry with the release of the Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 system.
Home technology innovator LiveWatch Security has continued improving speed and affordability in the home security industry with the release of the Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 system.

Designed as a central hub for managing modern home security systems, Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 is powered by Qolsys technology and features numerous improvements on the first version of LiveWatch's flagship alarm system. The upgrades include faster wireless connectivity, a smarter user interface, increased support for third-party home automation devices, and the addition of SD card backup for images captured by the system.

“We're truly thrilled about this new release because it has helped us realize our goal of giving customers a way to know what is going on in their homes at all times and a way to instantly contact their loved ones in an emergency,” said LiveWatch founder and president Chris Johnson. “We listened to our customers' feedback about the original Plug&Protect IQ system, hearing what they loved and what they wished they had, and came up with a next generation product that I think will really help bring people and their families peace of mind.”

The Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 system communicates wirelessly with all the home security and automation devices in a user's house. When a motion sensor or alarm is triggered on a user's property, the system relays the information to both the user and a central monitoring station, which then calls the police if the user does not report a false alarm.

The system has always operated this way, but the faster cellular and Wi-Fi communication introduced in version two will give users an extra edge over burglars, said LiveWatch CEO Brad Morehead.

“The entire premise of LiveWatch is giving people something that is easy to use and can get them help fast when they need it,” Morehead said. “We've managed to up the speed at which alarm signals enter and leave this system, so users can be confident police will be on the scene in time to apprehend a burglar if that sort of situation ever arises.”

Plug&Protect's 7-inch control panel features a refined smart user interface that was designed to make security systems more intuitive to control. For users who want to remotely operate their lights, thermostats and kitchen appliances from their smartphones, Plug&Protect IQ 2.0 has been updated to support third-party home automation devices developed since the release of the original IQ system. Users can also catch burglars in the act and backup the evidence for later using the system's new SD card image export feature.

Owners of the original Plug&Protect IQ system will automatically receive an upgrade to version 2.0 via a simple over-the-air activation process. LiveWatch recommends that customers contact their security specialist if they have trouble getting their upgrade.

LiveWatch was founded in 2002 by a paramedic passionate about keeping families safe. The company specializes in designing technology that helps people live safer and more comfortable lives.
