innogy and MEDION cooperate to expand product diversity in smart home
innogy and MEDION AG are driving forward the development of smart home solutions. Both companies have entered into a cooperation agreement to connect MEDION’s smart home products with the innogy software.

Both companies have entered into a cooperation agreement to connect MEDION’s smart home products with the innogy software. The Smart Home solution combines the know-how of MEDION from the hardware sector and the software expertise of innogy.

MEDION will use the system intelligence and smartphone app of innogy SmartHome for its own smart products. From mid-2018, MEDION smart home products will be marketed together with the innogy software and platform. Through the collaboration, the partners are expanding their application diversity in the smart home segment.

MEDION has a decades of experience in making engineering products accessible to everyone. The combination of MEDION hardware, multimedia and streaming services with our proven software and platform opens up flexible business models and will make networked living more familiar and attractive to many people,” said Martin Herrmann, Sales Director of innogy SE.

 “With the innogy platform, practically all products and services can be networked intuitively. By building with our smart home on the innogy system structure, we offer our customers a future-proof and flexibly extendable solution for their intelligent homes”, explains Christian Eigen, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of MEDION AG.

MEDION, a german manufacturer of consumer electronics and providers of digital services, has their computer and multimedia products marketed both through specialist retailers and internationally traded large retail chains. Since 2016, easy-to-retrofit smart-home modules have also been part of MEDION’s portfolio. It is radio-based and modularly expandable and can thus be used in any household.

As a pioneer of smart home technology, innogy now has six years of market experience with its open platform and the design of smart services. Partner companies can fully integrate their products into the intelligent home control as in an ecosystem. All components are compatible with each other and can be controlled with the innogy SmartHome app.
